Hardie Plank and the Beginning of Carpentry

As the weather begins to turn and late fall appears to be losing out to winter one can see that the Wendling home is showing signs of nearly being complete.  Matteya and Ariel are showing their enthusiasm as this past week saw their home preparing for Hardie Plank and carpentry.

Hardie what...that's right Hardie Plank.  That is not vinyl siding on our house, rather it will be Hardie Plank straight from the Carolinas.  Hardie Plank is like vinyl siding but a little more durable as it is concrete in its foundation and can be painting to match the changing taste of the home owner.  However, with the size of the house I can assure the reader that the author will not be re-painting this anytime in the near future.

In preparation for the siding on the house, straping has been place on the white Ty-Vek.  While some workers were outside working on the Hardie Plank others were insider working on finishing the tile and beginning the carpentry.

With the tile laid in the entry way, bathrooms and kitchen, as pictured above and below, it was time to put up doors, baseboards and moulding, aka the finish carpentry.

Matteya and Ariel are pictured with the closet doors in Matteya's bedroom....

while in Ariel's room we see one of the three window seats that have been created.

Yet, there is more to be done.  The walls are ready and waiting for the paint which will be the next step in the process.  Soon after we will see the cabinetry for the bathrooms, laundry room and kitchen. It is an exciting time.

However, there is time for stuff other than house building....like visiting Santa.

So we look forward to watching our house be finished with the hope that during the holiday season or soon after we will be living there.
